The description and materials needed for each group are listed below. On the day of the event, the link will be sent to the the email address that you provided. Please ensure this is a current email address. *Parents please forward that email to your child if he/she has an email address for easy access. We will NOT be sending the email to Middle/High school students.

For Lower Elementary students: Grades KG-2 (5yr. olds welcome)

Students will create a beautiful Ramadan-themed watercolor painting. Add a frame for a lovely Ramadan decoration that can be used for years to come! Idea by Little Life of Mine. Please note that a parent must be available for portions of this activity, as it requires using a stencil and ruler.

Materials:

  • Watercolor paper or white cardstock
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Center design (cookie cutter, stencil, or freehand)
  • Watercolors
  • Small paint brushes
  • Frame (recommended, but optional)

Advance Prep:

  • Gather all required materials
  • Choose your center design and have it ready

For Upper Elementary students: Gr 3-5

Students will make a Ramadan Masjid Lantern using simple materials. Our hope is that this lantern is used to light their Ramadan nights for many years to come, insha’Allah :)

Materials:

  • Glass jar 12 -14 oz
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Permanent marker black
  • Glitter
  • Fairy lights (an example from Amazon, these can also be found at Target)
  • Masjid template - click here
  • Tape

Advance Prep:

  • Have the mason jar cleaned and ready to go
  • Print out and cut the masjid template

For Middle & High School students: Gr 6-12

Students will create a beautiful Ramadan-themed geometric painting on canvas that can be used to make your home feel more festive every Ramadan.

Materials:

  • Canvas (8in. x 10 in. is a good size, example from Amazon)
  • Masking tape (getting specifically MASKING tape is important, otherwise the "peeling" part may not work, example from Amazon.)
  • 3 to 5 different paint colors of your choice! (Any kind of acrylic paint)
  • Sponges (Have the same amount of sponges as the number of paint colors you're using, or cut a big sponge (a clean one) into little sponges.
  • Paintbrush or permanent marker (after your piece has dried, you can write your Ramadan greetings in the middle!)
  • OPTIONAL: newspaper or a sheet to prevent mess

Advance Prep:

  • Gather all materials before the activity begins.
