Build the future you dream of for your children, family, and parents today!

As a part of this Peer to Peer campaign, all Peers taking the responsibility to raise funds were asked to answer a question or two including our family. The answer would allow the donors to understand why this campaign is important to us and why we have chosen to become "Peers" in its support. The questions asked:

What are your dreams and hopes for your children and family's future? 2. How do you hope to achieve those dream?

I am choosing to answer these questions by sharing an interaction between my son and I. My son Jamal and I recently had a conversation about the future. He shared a dream-like vision he had a few nights ago in which he had built a time machine so he asked me where I would go if I could travel in time. I thought for a minute and then said, I would visit the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. He smiled and said, I would too and that's what I saw in my vision that I had built a time machine and I travelled back to the Prophet's time. He said that he met him at the Kaaba and told him everything he had learnt about his life, which made him smile. I shared my own vision with him in which I saw him and his sister run up to a lake approaching an individual dressed in white, although I could only see his back.

As Jamal and Tabassum got closer, the individual bent down to lean closer to them. He asked them their names and upon hearing the answer, he smiled ear to ear. Jamal Ahmed (the beautiful highly praised one) and Tabassum Amina (the smile of Amina). He asked how they managed to find him and they responded, our parents build a Sanad that showed us the way. He looked pleased as they continued their chatter with him, strolling along the beautiful body of water.

Our hopes and dreams for our children's future can mean a lot of things; like our kids doing well in school, perhaps pursuing careers that make them happy but also provides for them comfortably, being good citizens and good human beings, having a Muslim identity, knowing their purpose, being happy, giving back to the community and society in meaningful ways...It can also mean connecting all of this good to the life after this life and not letting that reality fade. It's reminding ourselves that we should strive for both, the good of this life and the next by connecting their reality. That's what we are trying to do.
