2019 marked the 9th year of Sanad Trust Foundation's history, almost a decade complete. This year was filled with unexpected challenges yet we found ways to get through. We received joy, hope and kindness amidst all of the struggles. We are reminded in Emily's Dickinson words, "hope is a thing with feathers that perches in the soul" so we keep moving forward.

Sanad Trust established an endowment in 2019 with a modest amount of $10,000 and a BIG hope that Muslim-led institutions should be self-sustainable over the long run. A community that seeks self-sustainability must invest in vehicles that can support its mission long into the future. An endowment is a donation of money or property to a non-profit organization, which uses the resulting investment income for a specific purpose. In fact, endowments are a part of our Islamic tradition from the days of Prophecy. They have provided vital support to the mission and vision of so many public institutions like schools, universities, mosques, churches, and synagogues. Sanad Trust is honored to establish this Islamic tradition in our time and we invite you to join us.

Founding executive director Rehan Mirza never tires from describing the vision for Sanad Trust and the potential he sees right before his eyes. We dream of a network of soul-centered neighborhood education and community centers for Muslims in North America. They would welcome youth, families, and the elderly with open arms. Each would be served with grace and dignity and ihsan (excellence). Children would get the highest quality academic K-12 education and spiritual environment for their character development. Adults could remain healthy through fitness and spiritual programming. And seniors would be honored and remain a part of our communal experience. Each center will be a place of love, empathy, and standards. We will offer sincere counsel and listen to those who are hurting. We will reflect Prophetic light for those seeking guidance. We will hold fast to institutional and financial ethics.
